You should be completely symptom-free for at least 48 hours before donating. If you are taking antibiotics for an infection, you must finish the full course before you are eligible.

Not necessarily. As long as your blood pressure is below 180/100 at the time of donation, you can usually donate, even if you are on blood pressure medication.
Is there an upper age limit for donors? 👴
Generally, you can donate up to age 65 or 70 depending on your local health guidelines and overall physical fitness.
I recently traveled abroad. Can I still donate? ✈️
It depends on where you went. Travel to areas with high malaria or Zika virus risk may require a waiting period of 1 to 12 months.
Can I donate blood if I am a smoker? 🚬
Yes, smoking does not disqualify you. However, we recommend not smoking for at least 2 hours before and after donation.
Can I donate if I have a piercing? 👂
If the piercing was done with a single-use needle in a regulated shop, you might be eligible immediately. Otherwise, a 6-month wait is standard.
Can I exercise after donating? 🏋️
It is best to avoid heavy lifting or vigorous exercise for the rest of the day. Give your body time to replenish fluids.
What should I do if I feel dizzy afterward? 😵💫
Lie down with your feet elevated and drink plenty of water. Most dizziness passes quickly after a snack and a 15-minute rest.
